Sunrise Fresh Produce Acquires assets of MidSouth Produce of Jackson. Combined purchasing power to benefit all customers.

Jackson, MS, September 27, 2010: Sunrise Fresh Produce announces the acquisition of certain assets of Mid-South Produce of Jackson. Andy Mercier, President of Sunrise, stated that the combination of the customer bases will benefit all customers in the greater Jackson area. "Will White and his team have built an excellent reputation of providing quality products and superior service. The combined purchasing power of both companies will result in better pricing and more frequent deliveries from our suppliers. This means Jackson restaurateurs and their customers will be getting the freshest product available with improved pricing." Will White owner of MidSouth Produce, stated "We think this is the right move for our customers. Our customers have been very loyal to MidSouth over the last 5 years and our facility just could not handle any more business. The new and expanded warehouse and latest distribution technology Sunrise brings will be a great benefit to our customer base." Steve Castleman, General Manager of Sunrise says he will maintain the same personalized service that MidSouth has provided its customers. "It is our belief at Sunrise Fresh Produce that a locally owned produce distribution company, with pristine warehouses, the latest in distribution technology and a personalized customer service approach to business will result in positive financial returns to the restaurants it serves," stated Castleman. Castleman, a former general manager of Gulf Coast Produce, was recently named General Manager of Sunrise Fresh Produce. He has over 15 years experience in the produce industry. "Our top management has over 100 years combined experience providing quality produce to restaurants across Mississippi," Castleman states.

Sunrise Fresh Produce announced their Grand Opening with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on January 19, 2010. This opening is welcome news to the city of Jackson and local restaurant owners. The investment in this facility strengthens the owners' commitment to the Greater Jackson area at a time when the city really needs it. Sunrise Fresh Produce is providing jobs in an environment where many are losing theirs. To commemorate this event, Sunrise Fresh Produce was joined by employees of Merchants Foodservice, members and ambassadors from the Greater Jackson Chamber Partnership along with several representatives from the City of Jackson. Also in attendance was a representative from the Mississippi Hospitality and Restaurant Association. Everyone enjoyed a nice reception following the ceremony and all guests were given a gift of a fresh fruit basket to enjoy.
